Mackay Canegrowers Limited (MCL) trading as CANEGROWERS Mackay is an integral part of the CANEGROWERS organisation, the peak body representing Australia's sugarcane growers in Queensland and New South Wales.  MCL provides services, representation and support to the majority of cane growers across the Mackay and Plane Creek regions on a wide range of issues including advocacy, marketing, water and electricity, workplace health & safety, transport, environment and best management practice, training and business management.

  • TAFE Course – Certificate 111 in Laboratory Skills

    CQUniversity Australia is offiering training in MSL30118 Certificate 111 in Laboratory Skills.  This mid-level qualification laboratory course now has a sugar-specific stream, which will provide potential employment opportunities in the sugar industry at laboratory level.  Click here to view further information.

    *NEW - Pricing Essentials for Cane Growers Program
    CANEGROWERS has teamed with TAFE Queensland and the Rural Jobs Skills Alliance to create a course for sugarcane growers in this new environment.
    The course will develop:
    the ability to better understand and interpret financial reports and costs of production
    * understanding of factors that influence commodity (sugar) prices
    * strategies to manage the risk of price fluctuations
    * knowledge of forward pricing tools and other emerging technologies and marketing tools
    * understanding and management of business risks

  • CANEGROWERS Marketing Information Service

    CANEGROWERS Marketing Information Service offers support in the form of information and eductation to members. The service offers expert insight regarding sugar price and production forecasting.  It is an independent service which will not favour one marketer over another. To access, members can go to CANEGROWERS website, www.canegrowers.com.au and click on the Resources tab to log in.
  • Powerful new Cost of Production Tool helping growers manage costs

    The Cost of Production Tool is primarily designed to allow growers to determine what sugar price they need to cover production costs.  This is an important part of understanding what sugar prices you would like to lock in for your business.

    The tool allows you to enter your own farm information, which will enable a break-even sugar price to be calculated based on your costs of production.  Members can download the new Cost of Production Tool on the CANEGROWERS website at www.canegrowers.com.au/marketing-information-service.

    A handy How to Guide on using the Tool can be found on pages 17-18 of the June edition of the Canegrower magazine.
